The reads of November...

So it is time to think about November my dear Geeks, and that got me thinking. There are so many Geeky movies that we love and watch during the colder months, and many of those movies are based on books. What is your favorite geeky movie that was based on a book? Let's put together some ideas, and we will vote soon.

Unleash the Geek ideas!

  3. 1]Dune (thinking of either the 80s movie or the Syfy mini-series)
    2]The Time Machine (either movie)
3]A Scanner Darkly (I'm still needing to watch and read this one)
4]Journey to the Center of the Earth (I prefer the new version)
    5]A Clockwork Orange (classic)
6]Frankenstein (any version...Kenneth Branagh is my favorite)
7]The Island of Doctor Moreau (um...movie is a bit off...???)
8]I, Robot (book of short stories)
9] Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (yes!)
10]The Chronicles of Narnia (always good, even in those British miniseries)

Old books that have movies that are hard to find, but I love them:
Anna to the Infinite Power, Logan's Run

  6. My husband seconds "Blade Runner". I've never read a Phillip K. Dick novel, so that or "Total Recall" could be interesting.

For my part, I've gone kind of classic:

    1) Andromeda Strain by Michael Crichton
    2) War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells
    3) The Time Machine by H.G. Wells
    4) The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde
    5) The Stepford Wives by Ira Levin

Happy to add to the chaos! ;-)

    Akira
    Jonah Hex
    Sin City
Battlefield Earth (nobody said the movie had to be good did they?)
    The Bone Collector
    Angela's Ashes
Sherlock Holmes (mmm...Robert Downey Jr.; also I heart Sherlock)
    Catch 22
    Eragon
    Alice in Wonderland
    Peter Pan
    Gone With The Wind
    Lord of the Rings (duh!)
Percy Jackson and the Olympians : The Lightning Thief (again, didn't say the movie was good)
    Schindler's List (cry much?)
    Godfather

Aack! Someone stop me! Of course other than Gone With the Wind, I've already read all these. *sigh*

  8. THERE ARE TOO MANY :(

The Princess Bride is the best for cuddling up, though :)

Also a HUGE fan of Return to Oz - closer to the actual Oz books than anything else :)
