We are all so busy the next few weeks that it is a time of year that we traditionally here at GGBC take a break from reading and get crafty. This isn't just regular crafts, this can include baking, metal and wood working, making a popcorn popper out of soda cans or getting that scarf knit you always wanted to finish. Paint a picture, write a haiku, make a baking soda and vinegar volcano complete with dinosaurs or get that damn Lego set put together. It's all about giving yourself permission to take time for yourself and do something YOU want to do. Remember you? Yeah, you is pretty damn amazing, and they need some looking after. SO GO FORTH AND CREATE!
We always have a kind of highlighted craft book to give us inspiration, and this year we've got a great one by our very own fellow geek craft mentor, Bonnie Burton. My friends yearning for awesome crafts I give you:
Crafting with Feminism by Bonnie Burton
From Amazon.com:
"This is what a feminist crafter looks like! Crafting with Feminism features 25 irreverent and easy-to-make projects that celebrate everything that rocks about girls, gals, and badass women. Wear your ideology on your sleeve by creating fierce custom merit badges. Prove that the political is personal with DIY power panties. Get cozy with a handmade Huggable Uterus Body Pillow, or craft heroine finger puppets to honor great women like Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Frida Kahlo, and bell hooks. Featuring tips on everything from beginner sewing stitches to building a kickin’ party playlist, and a totally empowering forward from “Queen of Geeks” Felicia Day, this book has everything you need for an awesome crafternoon."
So get your glue guns revved up and your creativity unleashed. This is one of the best months of the year at GGBC, and we want you part of our crafting army. What are you working on? How did it turn out? Leave your comments and photos here, on our FB group and on Goodreads (links in sidebar) and on Twitter at #GGBC and let's have an online craft show.
Have a favorite creative book? Share that with us too, inspiration for us all is very welcome these days and this time of year. So get ready to get crafty, warm up a spiked hot cocoa and get going. You needs looking after, and you might as well have fun while spending some time together. Post all through the month of December and don't forget to tag us! Happy Holidays my dear Geeks, let's be united in our weird desire for incredible creativity. Dibs on the felt toilet paper covers.
